Youth to the People Skincare Review

So in the Clean Beauty world, Youth to the People is a brand that we see and hear a lot about. I finally was able to try out some of the products and thought I would share my thoughts with y’all. All the products mentioned I bought myself with the exception of the Vitamin C serum, which was gifted to me by the brand. So I have six products here that we’re going to review. I’m actually gonna start with my favorite and go down to my least favorite.

Firstly, and I must say that this is totally on me and I want to be honest and transparent, but if you follow this blog and my YouTube channel for awhile you’ll know that phenoxyethanol is an ingredient that I don’t consider clean. I don’t consider it to be “clean” because I personally have had a lot of sensitivity issues when I use any products that contain phenoxyethanol. I’ve also talked to a few other people who are in the clean beauty world and they have also had issues with this ingredient. It is something that really irritates my skin and it causes my eczema to flare up almost instantly.

So, I’m being 100% transparent here but I ordered a lot of these Youth to the People products without fully reading ingredient lists and a majority of them have phenoxyethanol. If you’re not familiar with this ingredient, I do have a post about that here. That being said not everybody has issues with phenoxyethanol. In fact it’s supposed to be safe in products up to 1% according to FDA regulations, so some companies do use it. However, for me personally I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Let’s jump into the reviews!

Youth to the People Vitamin C Serum

What They Say:

Elevate your morning routine. This first-of-its-kind clinical-grade 15% vitamin C serum is boosted with clean, plant-derived caffeine from superleafs yerba mate and guayusa to immediately brighten, visibly reduce morning puffiness, and hydrate.

My Review:

This serum is supposed to brighten, firm, and depuff the skin. This Vitamin C serum has a 15% concentration of Vitamin C, which is pretty high. We don’t usually see that much in a lot of other products or brands. This actually has three different sources of Vitamin C, including Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THD Ascorbate), and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate.

There’s also has some amazing antioxidants in here like passionfruit and dragon fruit and it also has Squalane, which is a very weightless, super hydrating oil. What I really like about this is it is a nice lightweight texture. I use this just in the morning, but you can use this morning and night if you want. It has really brightened up my skin and given my skin a very nice glow. I love that this does not have a powerful scent to it like some Vitamin C serums can. I don’t know about the depuffing, as I haven’t really noticed that. As far as Vitamin C serums go, I would put it up in my top three for sure!

Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate & Glow Dream Oil

What They Say:

This ultra-enriched, flash-absorbing face oil packed with rare super berry antioxidants that leaves skin velvety soft, hydrated, and glowing. Intensely hydrating prickly pear and squalane oil lock in moisture with the help of omega fatty acids and high levels of vitamin C.

My Review:

So if you have followed this blog or my YouTube channel for awhile, you know that I love face oils. I am dry and sensitive and they are life saving for my skin. I have a few that I’m super obsessed with and I’m definitely going to add this one to the list. This has a bunch of different oils and antioxidants in here and leaves the skin super soft and hydrated. this has my key in here. It has Maqui fruit, which is one of the most super dense antioxidant fruits in the world. It also has Acai, which is rich in all of your omegas. In addition, it has prickly pear which is just extremely hydrating as well.

This really leaves your skin very velvety smooth feeling. Immediately when I put this on it’s like my skin feels super soft. The other thing that I love about this is it is a really rich oil, but it seems to absorb into the skin really well. I don’t feel it’s super greasy if I wear to this bed and then in the morning my skin just looks really soft, really hydrated and smooth. I really love this one, so this is definitely up in my top as far as facial oils right now. I believe this one and the Chia Seed oil from Cocokind are probably my 2 top face oils right now.

Youth to the People Hydrate & Firm Eye Cream

What They Say:

Small but mighty. Introduce your eyes to the power of superfoods and science. This nourishing cream delivers vital nutrients with our proprietary superfood blend, peptides, and an army of restorative vitamins.

My Review:

The Superfood Hydrate and Firm Peptide Eye cream has a bunch of vital nutrients, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and this also has aloe which is supposed to be really soothing on the eye area. The aloe also really helps with hydration and cooling when you’re putting it on the skin. It also has sunflower oil, which is supposed to be an anti inflammatory to help with skin sensitivity. It also has the peptides in here, to aid in collagen production.

The thing is, I love that it really hydrated and smoothed the eye area. However, the issue here is that this has phenoxyethanol in it. So I used this for probably a week or two before my eye area started to break out and my eczema really flared up around the eye area. So within a matter of a week or two of use, both eyes were getting eczema spots. Once I stopped using this that cleared up. However, I did like the texture and it did a really good job, it just broke my eyes out after a week or two. So it if you don’t have a sensitivity issue and you’re looking for a really good eye cream this might be really beneficial for you to check out.

Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser

What They Say:

Our powerful, but gentle daily face wash is formulated with cold-pressed antioxidants – kale, spinach, and green tea – to give your skin the ultimate cleanse.

My Review:

Next up is something that I think that Youth to the People are probably most known for and I got this because I’ve seen so many people rave about it. The Superfood Cleanser has kale, spinach and different vitamins. It has different phytonutrients, Vitamins C, K &E and it has green tea, which is your antioxidant to help with the anti inflammation. They say that this is gentle and that it’s pretty good for all skin types.

Even though this is supposed to be “gentle”, for me it seemed a bit drying. As someone with dry, sensitive skin, I just don’t know if this was the ideal cleanser for me. I think if you have more normal, combination, or oily skin you might really like this. I used it a few times and just do not love it. The only have this one cleanser, so I would love to see them create one that is maybe cream based and better suited for dryer skin types.

Youth to the People Adaptogen Soothe & Hydrate Mist

What They Say:

An ultra-fine mist that hydrates, calms visible redness, and evens the look of skin tone with antioxidant-rich adaptogens, hyaluronic acid, and soothing peptides—like a serum in a mist.

My Review:

This is an ultrafine mist which is supposed to really hydrate and soothe the skin. It has the antioxidant rich adaptogens in here to help soothe the skin. It also has reishi in here which is a mushroom that supposed to really help with decreasing redness and irritation in the skin. In addition, it has Shea butter to really hydrate. It also has the adaptogen Ashwagandha, which really helps your body regulate itself when it comes to stress. So that you may have stressed inflamed skin and Ashwagandha would be really good for your skin. This also has hyaluronic acid, which is basically a moisture magnet to help retain moisture on and in the skin.

Since I have sensitive skin I really thought I was gonna love this one. So first off, I hate the mister. The mist is so fine that you don’t even feel you’re putting anything on your skin. I would have to spray and spray and spray before I felt like I had anything actually on my skin. Also, it smells very heavily of scent, so it smells like you’re spraying perfume on your face. Overall, I didn’t really care for it. I didn’t think it was super hydrating, I didn’t notice any difference in my skin, and I don’t think it was very soothing. To be honest, I wasn’t impressed.

Youth to the People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream

What They Say:

A deeply hydrating moisturizer with superior plant extracts and a pro-grade peptide complex formulated for dry, reactive, and sensitive skin. This fragrance-free formula is made with an intelligent hydration trio of Squalane, Jojoba + Shea butter for long-lasting deep hydration that won’t clog pores.

My Review:

Lastly is the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream, which is supposed to be formulated for very dry and sensitive skin. So, right away I was like “oh I’m gonna love it!” This has squalane which helps to boost hydration levels in your skin. It also has Ashwagandha, which I mentioned helps to balance out your skin due to stress. This is supposed to help with reducing visible signs of fatigue in your skin.

I did really like the texture of this and I did feel like it was rich. However, I didn’t really feel it hydrated my skin really well. Like the eye cream, I used this for about a week or two and broke out with eczema on my face and neck. When I stopped use of them both, my skin began to clear up. Again I did like the texture of this and the eye cream, but they just did not work for me.

To Wrap It Up!

So just to sum up, out of everything of these products the only two that I really liked are the Vitamin C serum and Superberry Hydrate and Glow Dream Oil. I actually really love these two and I’m going to keep them in my routine. Everything else just didn’t really work out for me. As I mentioned, it wasn’t so much the product themselves but because of the reaction I had to the pheonoxyethanol in the products.

I choose to not use phenoxyethanol and I don’t consider it to be a clean ingredient, so I don’t consider these to be clean products. Again, this is just my own personal choice and based on my experience. Skincare is very individual and we all have different concerns and needs for our skin so products react differently with different people skins. What might work with one person may not work for another.
